**UPDATE — Doug Emhoff Has Left Position At Law Firm For White House Role** In Stark Contrast To The Trumps, Kamala Harris’ Husband Says He Won’t Be An Adviser If Kamala Is VP: “I’m Her Husband, That’s It”

The difference is unmistakable.

**UPDATE** Since publishing this article, The Independent has reported that Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris’ husband Doug Emhoff will resign from his position at the DLA Piper law firm, where he is a partner, by inauguration day. He is reportedly working with the Biden team to find a position for himself within the administration.

One of the first things Donald Trump did when he finally had his own presidential administration was to fill it with his family and “friends.” Nearly every one of Donald’s children (just short of Barron, who’s still too young, and Tiffany, who we can’t quite figure out whether or not she even likes her father from one day to the next) has landed themselves some sort of official capacity within the United States government, under the reign of their father, despite the fact that the three of them combined don’t have enough education or experience to work in a Post Office. Not to mention the fact that Donnie seems to fill these random, ever-revolving positions within his administration with his pals and supporters.

But when it comes to what we hope is the impending Vice President and her family, they’re making it very clear that this sort of nepotism won’t be a thing under a Biden administration.

Attorney and hopeful first “second gentleman,” Dough Emhoff, and his wife, Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Kamala Harris, recently sat down for a Zoom interview with People Magazine and made it clear that he knows his place when it comes to his wife’s potential new gig.

“I’m her husband, that’s it.”

“She’s got plenty of great people giving her political advice,” Dough explained. “I’m her partner, I’m her best friend and I’m her husband. And that’s what I’m here for. I’m here to have her back.”

“Doug is extremely patient, he really is. And he has an incredible sense of humor,” Kamala said of her husband during the interview.

“One of the things that really allows us to get through these moments that are obviously very stressful — we’re talking about the future of the free world — it’s important to be able to laugh at yourself and each other. We do a healthy amount of both of that,” the VP hopeful added. “We don’t take ourselves too seriously in the context of our relationship. You can’t. You just have to flow and know what’s really important.”

Emhoff admitted that he does have plans if his wife ultimately ends up the Vice President of the United States, but they’re not his main focus right now.

“Right now, I’m just thinking about, let’s get through this election and let’s win this election,” he stated. “There are things that I’m really passionate about — including justice and access to justice. But I really just want to focus on winning this election.”

Oh… How different things could be in just 5 short days…
