Former President Barack Obama took to Twitter to share his gratitude for the health care workers fighting the novel coronavirus pandemic while sharing the story of one family that was impacted by combating the virus. With the pandemic gripping the world, including every single state in the U.S., Obama noted that health care workers are “giving everything.”
Obama was tweeting in response to a thread by Rachel Patzer, an epidemiologist at Emory University, who told of her family’s experience in which her husband, an emergency doctor treating coronavirus patients, felt it necessary to self-isolate from his loved ones in their home garage. Patzer urged people to take the COVID-19 outbreak seriously and to “please thank a health care worker for what they are doing and sacrificing.”
And Obama did just that.
“We owe a profound debt of gratitude to all our health professionals and everybody who’ll be on the front lines of this pandemic for a long while,” Obama tweeted. “They’re giving everything. May we all model our own behavior on their selflessness and sacrifice as we help each other through this.”

Dear America, please listen to President Barack Obama and not the squatter in the White House.

In contrast to his predecessor, former frozen steak salesman Donald Trump shitposts every single fucking day while dividing this country into tiny bits amid a pandemic. It’s hard to believe that just over three years ago, we had a calm president at the helm that soothed the nation during the rough times.
Health care professionals must be under an unimaginable amount of stress, and Patzer must feel comforted that Obama reached out to her. The only time Trump reaches out to an individual on Twitter is to thank them after they have praised the president. Trump could learn a lot from his predecessor.
