Internet Responds To Trump After He Attacks Mitt Romney For Joining Protests And Mocks His Poll Numbers In Utah: “You May Want To Sit Out Any Discussion Of Cratering Poll Numbers”

He's so predictable.

Mitt Romney joined a group of nearly one thousand Christians marching with Black Lives Matters protesters on Sunday, and Donald Trump has predictably taken issue with that. Trump has failed to reach out to protesters amid the racial unrest in the U.S., and it was a delightful surprise to see the Utah Republican marching with Black Lives Matters protesters. And not only was Romney protesting, but they were marching toward the White House.

Leading by example, Romney was wearing a protective face mask as the coronavirus continues to rage across the United States. Romney said, “We need a voice against racism, we need many voices against racism and against brutality. And we need to stand up and say that black lives matter.” Romney continued his support by tweeting that “Black Lives Matter,” words that this president has failed to utter in fear of losing his base.

Trump took to Twitter to mock Romney, suggesting that the Utah Republican was not sincere, and included a video clip of the demonstration. The least popular president in the history of polling also had the audacity to suggest that Romney’s poll numbers would fall for participating in the protest.

“Tremendous sincerity, what a guy,” Trump tweeted. “Hard to believe, with this kind of political talent, his numbers would ‘tank’ so badly in Utah!”

Twitter users fact-checked the president.

It’s Trump, not Romney, who is tanking in the polls. Only Donald J. Trump would attack someone for being a good person — and when he lashed out at Romney, he also attacked the one thousand Christians who marched with him.
