It Appears Security Detail Around Trump May Be Lax After Insider Revealed She Was Able To Hand Trump Bottle Of Water Without It Being Checked

Well, this is certainly... Peculiar.

Washington Post journalists Philip Rucker and Carol Leonnig dropped some of the juiciest Trump administration secrets on us yet with their new book, A Very Stable Genius.

But perhaps one of the most interesting revelations to come from the tell-all book comes in the form of the detailed description of a rather serious lapse in security surrounding Trump just a few weeks after his inauguration.

According to an excerpt from A Very Stable Genius published in Vanity Fair, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s daughter, Alexandra Pelosi, who was present at the White House on March 1st, 2017 where she was filming a documentary, was able to hand the president a bottle of water from her purse without a single member of his security detail checking the drink for contamination before he consumed it.

Per the excerpt, Trump had requested a bottle of water during the documentaries filming but there were no staff members around to fulfill his request. So, the authors allege, Pelosi pulled a bottle of Aquafina from her own, personal purse and handed it to the president.

According to the authors, Alexandria was rather shocked when there were no checks or protocols to be had before Donald tipped the water bottle up, no doubt with that weird little two-handed thing he does, and took a swig.

“I’ve been to the White House,” Pelosi’s daughter told journalists and authors Rucker and Leonnig. “There are always protocols. Here there were no rules, no protocol.”

“There’s so much wrong with the whole thing. I’m thinking, Isn’t there someone who’s supposed to guard what he’s eating and drinking?”

Of course, this is far from the first time that the competency of Trump’s security detail has been called into question.

A 33-year-old Chinese national named Yujing Zhang was convicted of trespassing at Donald’s Mar-a-Lago resort where they were discovered carrying electronic devices, passports, and a thumb-drive. And just recently a US Marine was charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer after they managed to infiltrate a zone located near the terminal in Florida where Trump takes his flights.

Maybe it’s nothing, folks. In all likelihood, this amounts to little more than an accidental error by some massively overworked Trump administration employees. But maybe, juuuuuust maybe, Donnie’s security detail is trying to quietly do the world a favor. And if that’s the case, let me just secretly applaud them for that.

I won’t tell if you won’t.
