It Seems Even Lindsey Graham Can’t Defend Some Of The New Voting Laws In GA: “That Doesn’t Make A Whole Lot Of Sense To Me”

I did not see this coming.

Republicans have been scrambling to cling to power ever since Joe Biden defeated Donald Trump in both the popular and electoral vote. All eyes are on Georgia now after Republicans pushed through a sweeping elections bill into law Thursday that’s leaving a lot of Americans scratching their heads. It’s like Republicans are saying the quiet part out loud as they clamber for ways to suppress the Black vote.

In just the span of a few hours, the bill passed both chambers of the legislature; Republican Gov. Brian Kemp then signed it Thursday evening. The new law imposes new voter identification requirements for absentee ballots, and it also empowers state officials to take over local election boards. Additionally, it limits the use of ballot drop boxes, and it makes it a crime to approach voters in line to give them food and water. The problem here is that long lines are featured every election cycle in predominately Black neighborhoods. Republicans created this problem, and now they want to punish anyone that gives them water while standing in a line for hours on end.

This move was so confounding that even Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) couldn’t defend it. Of course, he defended the other parts of the voter suppression law but making it illegal to hand another human being water was a bridge too far for him. On Fox News Sunday, host Chris Wallace asked the South Carolina Republican about that.

“That doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me. I agree with you there,” Graham responded.

Watch:

However, Lindsey isn’t playing the part of the good guy here. He added, “In Georgia, you had an explosion of mail-in ballotting,” even though former President Donald Trump votes by mail.  Forcing people to vote in person amid the raging pandemic that has taken over 548,000 American lives suppresses the vote. It’s as simple as this: Republicans know that if more people vote, they will lose.

Was the crisis in Afghanistan surrounding the pull out of American Troops Biden's fault or Trump's fault?
