J6 House Investigator Revealed What He Would Ask The Ex-President If Trump Were To Appear Before Committee, And The Former Guy Better Hope He Doesn’t End Up In The Hot Seat

Good luck with that, Donald.

Yesterday, the January 6th House Select Committee held yet another blockbuster public hearing in their ongoing investigation into the violent Capitol attack, as the ex-president’s specific role in inciting that violence, after a short pause during the late summer of this year. Following yesterday’s bombshell hearing, Rep. Jamie Raskin, a high-profile and notable investigator on the J6 panel, spoke with reporters and said he feels sure that the January 6th House Select Committee has been successful at most everything they sought out to accomplish through this investigation. Raskin said the committee has been able to collect enough cold, hard evidence and details to show the American people who the true instigators of that fateful, violent day and the attempts to overthrow the 2020 US presidential election really were.

“As the vice chair [Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY)] observed we were actually able to nail down every salient detail and pretty much every area of defense except for a number of things related directly to what Donald Trump was doing and what he was saying. Obviously, we got some of it but we didn’t get all of it. So one way of addressing the witnesses who took the Fifth [Amendment] when it came to Donald Trump’s own actions is to call Donald Trump himself. It’s hard for me to imagine any American citizen essentially being accused of trying to overthrow his or her own government who wouldn’t welcome the opportunity to come forward and testify,” Raskin said.

Trump has regularly filled his days with unhinged, nasty attacks against the House Select Committee, accusing them of failing or refusing to give him “equal time” to tell his side of things. He’s even gone so far as to demand to be able to appear and speak before the panel. However, following yesterday’s unanimous committee vote to subpoena the former president, Trump didn’t react well.

Raskin told reporters that he hopes anyone with knowledge regarding the fateful January 6th events would come forward “and nobody knows more about them than Donald Trump.”

The House investigator went on to point out that the committee has a longstanding history of success in litigating Contempt of Congress charges against those who refuse to comply with their subpoenas. Raskin noted that they anticipate the same outcome in this situation.

“We have a pretty unbroken track record of winning our cases because all we’re asking people do is come forward and testify and the Supreme Court has been clear that Congress has the power to do that,” he said.

Raskin went on to say that, should he get the opportunity, he hopes to ask Trump specifically about “a number of places in our investigation where various witnesses refused to say anything invoking the Fifth Amendment, the privilege against self-incrimination, meaning they felt they could be exposing themselves to prosecution, precisely when dealing with President Trump so we would like him to explain what was going on at those various points.”
