Some of Donald Trump’s most key, high-profile allies and Republican lawmakers have f**ked around all they’re going to get away with when it comes to the January 6th House Select Committee and their mounting investigation into the violent Capitol attack and the ex-president (and his people’s) role in inciting it. These staunch Trump jockeys have now officially reached the “find out” portion of this probe.

According to new reporting from CNBC, the January 6th Panel has now confirmed that they have issued congressional subpoenas for Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, as well as several other key GOP Trump allies in Congress, to force them to cooperate in their investigation into the heinous attack on the Capitol building, Congress, and the country as a whole.

It’s worth noting here that this move on the Committee’s part is unprecedented, and marks the first time throughout their investigation that they have issued official subpoenas for sitting members of the US Congress. This bombshell development took place just a matter of mere weeks before the January 6th panel is set to kick off their highly-anticipated public hearings, where the American people will finally gain access to never-before-seen evidence and testimonies that the Committee has collected throughout their probe.

In addition to Kevin McCarthy, who has infamously refused to cooperate with the panel’s investigation and requests for information, the House Select Committee has also issued subpoenas for Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio, Andy Biggs of Arizona, Mo Brooks of Alabama, and Pennsylvania’s Scott Perry.

All of the above have previously refused the panel’s requests for voluntary cooperation with their investigation.

In their letters sent out to the lawmakers today, the panel tells each and every one of the staunch Trump allies, “You declined voluntary cooperation, and we are left with no choice but to issue you a subpoena.”

In a press release following the development, the Committee’s Chairman Bennie Thompson said, “The Select Committee has learned that several of our colleagues have information relevant to our investigation into the attack on January 6th and the events leading up to it.”

“Before we hold our hearings next month, we wished to provide members the opportunity to discuss these matters with the committee voluntarily. Regrettably, the individuals receiving subpoenas today have refused and we’re forced to take this step to help ensure the committee uncovers facts concerning January 6th.”

McCarthy, who told the panel back in January that he has “nothing else to add” and refused their request for information regarding the investigation, is already at the center of quite a bit of scandal and controversy, after he originally placed the blame for the infamous Capitol attack on the ex-president, only to make an about-face and return to his public vocal support for Donald Trump.

Just recently, the House Minority Leader was busted on a recording telling his fellow GOP lawmakers that he would personally ask Donald Trump to resign from the presidency, just days after the insurrection, and privately worried that comments made by his fellow Republicans would only serve to ignite more violence.

The Committee says, McCarthy “was in communication with President Trump before, during, and after the attack on January 6th” and remained in contact with White House staff in the midst of the Capitol siege. According to the panel, he also “claimed to have had a discussion with the President in the immediate aftermath of the attack during which President Trump admitted some culpability for the attack.”

I suppose it’s only a matter of time before we see what their Trump devotion is worth to them.
