There’s really no denying the fact that now-former President Donald Trump and his administration spent most of their last year or so in office seriously downplaying the severity of a legitimately deadly pandemic that’s still present nearly two years later and has cost 600,000+ lives and counting in the United States alone. However, according to yet another new book that details Trump’s reign of terror on this nation, specifically his God-awful handling of the virus, his people weren’t so confident in this watered-down version of a deadly, highly infectious disease behind closed doors.

According to a new WaPo report on the book, Trump’s son-in-law and close adviser Jared Kushner was blowing his stack all over the poor health officials tasked with giving him the bad news as he struggled to secure the medical supplies needed to keep this thing from wiping the country out in the pandemic’s early days.

The Washington Post covered the new book that was penned by Post reporters Yasmeen Abutaleb and Damian Paletta and tells of how Kushner along with other Trump administration officials regularly chose to take their frustrations out on HHS emergency preparedness chief Robert Kadlec, the individual who signed off on evacuation American citizens from the Diamond Princess cruise ship in February of 2020, a move that Donald Trump himself pitched a hissy fit over.

Abutaleb and Paletta report that Kadlec approached Kushner in late March with the news that he had successfully secured the purchase of 600 million face masks to help combat the transmission of the potentially fatal virus. But there was a catch in the good news; the masks wouldn’t actually be ready until late June. According to the book, this revelation caused Trump’s son-in-law to “explode in anger.”

“You f*cking moron,” Kushner allegedly blew up at Kadlec. “We’ll all be dead by June!”

Not all of us, Kushy. Just upwards of 600,000 of us so far, right?

Apparently, Trump himself was also itching to fire Kadlec over the ordeal with the trapped Americans on an infected cruise ship, and his then Chief of Staff Mark Meadows also threatened to can the HHS emergency preparedness chief over struggles to distribute the COVID treatment remdesivir.

According to the report, Meadows screamed at Kadlec, “I’m going to fire your ass if you can’t fix this!”

The new book from the Washington Post reporters, titled Nightmare Scenario: Inside the Trump Administration’s Response to the Pandemic That Changed History, is set to release on June 29th.
