Jen Psaki Brilliantly Fact-Checks Fox Reporter With A Fox News Report

That had to hurt.

Fox News’s Peter Doocy seems to really want attention during press briefings. It’s as if Doocy wants to be like CNN’s Jim Acosta during the Trump administration. The problem is, though, that Doocy is not anything like Acosta, and White House press secretary Jen Psaki is nothing like Kayleigh McEnany. It’s as if Doocy sets himself up to be Psaki’d during each briefing.

On Friday, Doocy, who must know that President Joe Biden never ran on defunding the police, asked Psaki about the views of Vanita Gupta last year, who was confirmed this year on a bipartisan basis by the Senate, 51-49. Gupta is now serving as the United States Associate Attorney General. And with everything going on, it’s rather weird that Doocy would bring that up. So, Psaki read a report from Fox News to the Fox News reporter to clear that up.

Twitter users pounced:

In the Trump era, Gupta advocated for criminal justice reform, and she said during a hearing for her nomination: “I do not support defunding the police. I have, in fact, spent my career advocating where it has been necessary for greater resources for law enforcement and things like body-worn cameras, officer wellness and safety programs, and any number of measures.”

And again, President Biden has never called for defunding the police. That’s just hogwash, or as the former guy would say, it’s fake news.
