Jen Psaki Brutally Fact-Checks Fox News Reporter During Presser After He Incorrectly Talks About Biden’s Record

Not so fast, dude.

Fox News’s Peter Doocy once again tried to throw a gotcha’ question at White House press secretary Jen Psaki over the Biden administration’s immigration policies. To be clear, Biden has called for “an orderly, secure, and well-managed border while treating people fairly and humanely.” The Biden Administration launched a broad effort to reform our immigration system in January. I guess Doocy didn’t do his homework since the Fox News reporter claimed that the Biden administration “have not even tried” to pass immigration reform.

“Unified Democratic control of Congress, many months in office, you have not even tried,” Doocy said.

“That’s not actually true,” Psaki shot back. “Peter, just factual here. There’s been a bill proposed on the first day in office, steps were proposed as part of the reconciliation process. The [Senate] parliamentarian rejected that proposal. We’re going back and proposing new options.”

Watch:

On the White House website on January 20th, it reads, “President Biden is sending a bill to Congress on day one to restore humanity and American values to our immigration system. The bill provides hardworking people who enrich our communities every day and who have lived here for years, in some cases for decades, an opportunity to earn citizenship.”

“The legislation modernizes our immigration system, and prioritizes keeping families together, growing our economy, responsibly managing the border with smart investments, addressing the root causes of migration from Central America, and ensuring that the United States remains a refuge for those fleeing persecution,” the statement adds. “The bill will stimulate our economy while ensuring that every worker is protected. The bill creates an earned path to citizenship for our immigrant neighbors, colleagues, parishioners, community leaders, friends, and loved ones—including Dreamers and the essential workers who have risked their lives to serve and protect American communities.”

Obviously, we do need immigration reform, but it needs to pass so that President Biden can sign it. Psaki said they would be “proposing new options,” so hopefully, this can be resolved. Haitian migrants have flooded the border in recent days, and we don’t appear prepared to deal with that humanely.
