Donald Trump knows that if he tweets something, no matter how big of a lie it is, the “president’s” fire-breathing base will believe it. This morning, Trump tweeted out false statistics for the jobs numbers for October, probably as a distraction from the impeachment inquiry vote on Thursday. Trump is supposed to wait until 9:30 a.m. to announce jobs numbers, but he tweeted it out before 9:00. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. employers added 128,000 jobs in October, but Trump tweeted that we gained 303,000 jobs.
CNN’s Jim Acosta quickly fact-checked Trump on Twitter.
These are not the correct jobs numbers for October. The US economy added 128,000 jobs in October. https://t.co/upP7RjlL8g

And no one is surprised.

He also tweeted those numbers at 8:52 am! He jumped the gun 38 minutes early. So who just made a fortune? He’s playing the market and they’re falling for it🤬🤯

And Obama’s numbers are better:
October 2015 – 271,000
October 2016 – 175,000Trump, October 2019: 128,000

Trump did say adjusted for “revisions,” but those are typically done later — and not by him before 9:00 in the freaking morning. Last month, it was reported that Trump’s trade war with China has cost 300,000 U.S. jobs. Job growth under Trump has become weaker. In late September, it was reported that former President Barack Obama had created 1.5 million more jobs than Trump during the same time-frame in office.
Trump tweets and says things that can easily be disproven, but he knows his cult-like followers will believe whatever he throws out there. This is the world we’ve found ourselves suddenly living in and it kind of sucks for those of us who are reality-based.
