Today, Congress held a debate and vote on the House floor regarding the next round of bailout packages, and according to a new report from the Daily Mail, a few Congressmembers disregarded the rules regarding face coverings to help prevent the possible spread of the life-threatening coronavirus in the U.S. Capitol.
One of the most notable members of Congress to forego the face mask during today’s meeting was staunch Trump ally and rapist sympathizer Jim Jordan — who not only sat there without the face covering he should have work to help protect his fellow members of Congress, but sat there coughing without said face mask.

Before the vote, lawmakers were made aware of the new recommendations and a table with gloves and masks on it was available outside the chambers for members of Congress to use.

Unsurprisingly, Jordan was quickly called out by a colleague who took the podium on the heels of his statement.
Democratic Rep. Jim McGovern of Massachusetts stated, “While face coverings are not mandatory, there are certainly recommended. And the Office of the Attending Physician has also advised that a face covering will produce a minimum reduction in sound when using a microphone. The face covering is likely to be most useful in preventing a viral spread when a person is speaking. So people can do whatever they want to do,” before going on to note, “I would say that while we are all trying to show how fearless we are, we should be mindful of the people surrounding us.”
Considering many members of Congress are elderly, it puts them at a far higher risk of fatal complications should they contract the life-threatening coronavirus. However, when have “Gym” Jordan and his GOP cronies ever given a damn about anyone but themselves?
We should have known better than to expect them to start now.
