John Bolton Appeared To Criticize Trump During Private Speech, Said His Policy Decisions Are Guided By Personal Interest

He took a few shots at Princess Ivanka and her husband, too.

Donald Trump’s former national security adviser tore into the “president,” his daughter and son-in-law during a private speech last week, according to NBC News. Six people who attended the event told the news outlet that John Bolton also questioned Trump’s approach to foreign policy saying  those issues “can’t be approached like the win-or-lose edict that drives real estate deals: When one deal doesn’t work, you move on to the next.”

Another tidbit in the report will surprise no one ever as Bolton suggested that Trump’s approach to U.S. policy on Turkey is motivated by personal or financial interests.

Trump seems to have a habit of doing things that are self-serving without a thought to how they would affect this country. So this report certainly doesn’t seem far-fetched.

Bolton’s departure from the Trump administration after 17 months came just before Trump’s Ukraine scandal broke in the news. Trump, as usual, tried to claim that he had fired Bolton — but Bolton said he had resigned. Trump never seems to fire the individuals he’s shoving through the revolving door to their faces. He typically takes to Twitter to lash out after each departure.

Bolton told attendees at the event that he had kept a resignation letter in his desk for three months.

When Bolton was asked what he thinks will happen in January 2021 if Trump is re-elected, he responded by deriding Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and Ivanka Trump — and took aim at Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky), too, according to the report.

He also suggested that Kushner and Ivanka Trump could convince the president to rewrite his legacy and nominate a liberal like Lawrence Tribe — a Harvard Law professor who has questioned Trump’s fitness for office and was a legal adviser to Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign — to the Supreme Court, the people present for Bolton’s speech said.

Bolton said, with an eye roll that suggested he doesn’t take them seriously, that Kushner and Ivanka Trump could do so in an attempt to prove they had real influence and were in the White House representing the people they want to be in social circles with at home in New York City, the people present for his remarks said.”

Trump would lose the support of his base if he nominated a liberal to the Supreme Court, though, and Mitch McConnell would have a months-long seizure.

Bolton now has a book deal with Simon & Schuster that is worth about $2 million.

And if you think that’s a lot of money, well, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner earned between $82 million and $135.1 million last year but the “president” wants us to focus on what Joe Biden’s son made because of his last name.

Ivanka and Jared can author a book, too, and call it “The Grift.”
