Kevin McCarthy Apparently Warned Republicans About Fundraising In A Closed Door Meeting: “We’re Getting Our Asses Kicked”

PANIC! PANIC!

Republicans would like to turn things around after the 2018 blue tsunami resulted in the largest Democratic House gain since 1974, thus finally providing checks and balances to the current administration. But Republicans haven’t learned much from that stunning defeat, apparently, as they continue to supply cover to their corrupt and chaotic “president.” House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) knows his party is in trouble, but he, too, is incapable of learning from his own mistakes.

Perhaps growing a spine is too much to ask.

McCarthy voiced fundraising concerns in a closed-door meeting of his conference on Tuesday, telling his Republican colleagues that “we’re getting our asses kicked.” The House minority leader’s remark was made during a caucus meeting over rising concerns that fundraising numbers from Republican members aren’t where they need to be in order to flip back the House from Democrats in 2020, according to The Hill.

House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) and National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) Chairman Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) joined McCarthy in sounding the alarm over Democrats outraising them and called on members to pay their NRCC dues and to work harder to bring in fundraising dollars to help their embattled party to defeat Democrats.

“Emmer said we are sounding the alarm,” one source in the room told the news outlet. “Steve said members need to be raising money and paying dues, Kevin said we’re getting our ass kicked.”

“McCarthy and Emmer reviewed the overall numbers and the disparity. Also stressed the difference between D and R member and candidate campaign COH (cash on hand) — about a $40m disparity,” one Republican lawmaker said. “Members need to meet their dues commitment minimally while also funding their campaign. Too many members well behind on their dues.”

One Republican lawmaker insisted that there had been some fundraising successes, citing Rep. Greg Gianforte’s (R-Mont.) contribution of $250,000 to the NRCC.

“If anything was dramatic it was Gianforte donating $250k personally to the NRCC. And raising another $100k,” the source said.

Gianforte is not a good example, though. He literally assaulted a reporter just before he was elected. That’s part of the GOP’s problem as they continue to lower the bar while the public grows increasingly more fatigued over the constant chaos and division we’re being subjected to. Republicans are now the party of Trump.

Hey, Kevin: We’re coming for the Senate, too.
