Lesley Stahl Reportedly Gets Security Detail After Receiving Death Threats Over Trump 60 Minutes Interview

Oh, good grief.

Following Lesley Stahl’s contentious interview with Donald Trump on 60 Minutes, the president attacked her. It’s not too surprising that a family member of the veteran journalist received a death threat. Obviously, this isn’t normal, but it’s par for the course in the Trump era. Stahl calmly called Trump out after he told a few whoppers, and the interview ended with the president walking out. Trump always feels that he’s being mistreated when he sustains a narcissistic injury — especially from a woman.

TMZ reported on Tuesday that CBS is providing security detail for Stahl after an unidentified suspect called her home Thursday, just hours before Trump released his own copy of the interview on Facebook. The caller threatened her and her family and “said something about neo-Nazis.”

Law enforcement sources tell us the death threat call was reported to LAPD around 9 AM Thursday, October 22. We’re told the caller directed the threat toward Lesley and her family, and also said something about neo-Nazis.

Multiple sources told the outlet that the network has guards monitoring the homes of Lesley Stahl, 78, and her family members and escorting them if they go out in public.

Trump alleged that he was trying to show “the bias, hatred and rudeness on behalf of ’60 Minutes’ and CBS” when he posted his copy of the interview. Trump’s version, of course, varied from the actual show that used voiceovers.

For example, Trump again promised to release his healthcare plan on 60 Minutes, but Stahl noted to the president that he’d made that vow repeatedly. After Trump abruptly walked out, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany came out with a massive book and handed it to Stahl. That, she said, was the healthcare plan the Trump administration has been working on.

BUT.

Stahl explained on the show: “It was filled with executive orders and congressional initiatives, but no comprehensive healthcare plan.” There is no healthcare plan to replace Obamacare amid the raging pandemic. It’s just another empty promise. And now, Stahl has full security when she goes out in public simply because she told the truth. Trump, in contrast, is not capable of telling the truth — and his cultish following protects him from the truth. For his next trick, Trump will likely encourage ‘lock her up’ chants directed at Stahl.
