Despite Donald Trump’s near-constant claims otherwise, his beloved Republican party is dismantling before his eyes in the wake of the scandal involving Ukraine and the rounds of public impeachment inquiry hearings that have followed.

Trump has a nasty habit of taking to his Twitter account to falsely declare that this impeachment ordeal, along with all the testimonies from witnesses, has done nothing but help his case when it comes to whether or not he will be formally impeached — even going so far as to peddle the claim that he’s polling even better now thanks to this whole fiasco.

But the truth of the matter is, even some of the staunchest, life-long Republicans are no longer able to support their party thanks to the antics and behavior of Donald Trump.

Some of them have left quietly, with their heads held in shame. But others, like P. Ryan Hussey, have left the GOP with a bang.

Hussey, who’s been a life-long Republican voter in Kansas, penned a blistering letter to his Senators, Pat Roberts and Jerry Moran, to inform them not only that he was leaving the corrupt party, but exactly why, as well.

Hussey explained in his letter that he’s been troubled by the party’s transformation under the reign of Trump for some time now. However, it was the behavior of GOP lawmakers during the recent hearings that served as the straw that broke the camel’s back for the life-long Republican voter — writing that their behavior was “too much to stomach.”

“The straw that broke the proverbial camel’s back occurred during the past few weeks when Republican House Intelligence Committee members abandoned all semblance of sanity,” Hussey wrote in his letter to the Senators. “I was disgusted to hear members of my former party challenge the patriotism of a career military veteran and intelligence officer simply because his testimony did not subscribe to their shallow narrative.”

He then went on to criticize the party for their near-constant peddling of debunked, right-wing conspiracy theories, calling them “textbook Russian disinformation.”

Hussey concluded his letter by stating, matter-of-factly that he “could no longer, in good faith, consider myself part of a party that subscribed to these absurd positions.”

At this point, Trump’s GOP jockeys are essentially doing the hard work for us. If they keep this behavior up, 2020 will be a shoo-in for the Democrats. There won’t be any GOP voters left.
