Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) was once a critic of Donald Trump’s; then he did an about-face once the former reality show star became the GOP presidential nominee. Remarkably, Graham remained quiet even after Trump repeatedly lashed out at his deceased friend, Sen. John McCain. Trump and Graham’s friendship briefly turned sour following the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection that the former president incited. Graham said at the time, “All I can say is count me out. Enough is enough.” But, they quickly reunited as BFFs again, and the South Carolina Senator is now professing his undying love for the twice impeached one-term former president again on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show.
Graham joined Trumpian members of his party seeking to oust Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) from leadership, which seems likely to happen next week. Cheney refuses to go along with Trump’s Big Lie and continues to criticize the former president over the insurrection. Being truthful isn’t allowed in the GOP anymore, apparently.
So, Graham somehow thinks his party can’t move forward without the man that cost the GOP the House, the Senate, and the White House.
“Can we move forward without President Trump? The answer is no,” Graham insisted. “I’ve always liked Liz Cheney, but she’s made a determination that the Republican Party can’t grow with President Trump. I’ve determined we can’t grow without him.”

Trump once labeled Graham as a “lightweight” and an “idiot” who “seems to me not as bright as Rick Perry,” and maybe those two now deserve each other. Senior adviser Jason Miller told Axios Trump rallies are likely to “start as soon as late spring or early summer,” so it’s as if he doesn’t realize he’s no longer in office. Just imagine if former President Barack Obama continued to hold rallies after he left office. It’s bizarre, but that’s who the GOP has tied themselves to now.
