Lindsey Graham Ruins His Own Defense Of Trump As His Old Comments Come Back To Haunt Him

Well, THIS is embarrassing!

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) has unfortunately become one of Donald Trump’s most outspoken supporters and defenders despite his history of being one of his loudest former critics. This has made things incredibly awkward for Graham as the senator is repeatedly confronted with his former comments and evidence of the president’s endless wrongdoings.

Recently, one of Graham’s older interviews, dating all the way back to 1999, has come back to bite him in the ass thanks to the report of Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Just last month, Graham echoed the president and said this when Attorney General William Barr released his summary of Mueller’s investigation:

No collusion and no obstruction.”

This was quite different from the way Graham felt in 1999 when he was far less forgiving in the case of President Bill Clinton’s impeachment proceedings. Graham had explicitly stated that obstruction did not have to be directly spelled out for it to be a crime – you can watch this old interview below:

And yet, he is completely willing to excuse Donald Trump despite the fact that Mueller’s redacted report pointed out TEN instances where Trump might have tried to obstruct justice.

This is hypocrisy at its finest — something that the Republican Party has become very well-known for during Trump’s presidency. If nothing else, Trump’s presidency has truly exposed how the GOP is completely willing to abandon the country just to advance the Republican Party and a dangerous conservative agenda. Republicans don’t care if what is going on with Trump goes against their current (or former) values — they only care about maintaining control.
