Why am I not surprised?

Just when you think this whole mess with the Trump team and the election can’t get any worse… It does.

Last week, in what seemed to be a last-ditch act of complete and utter desperation, the Trump team appeared to get a bit mixed up when they scheduled a somewhat impromptu press conference regarding this alleged voter fraud (that they have no evidence of.) It seemed as though Trump and his people were attempting to schedule this presser at the Four Seasons Hotel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a key state that Trump ultimately lost in the election that led to his defeat, and one of the main focuses of the Trump team’s baseless claims. However, it seemed that someone got their wires crossed, and the press event was actually held at Four Seasons Total Landscaping in Northeast Philadelphia, sandwiched between an adult bookstore and a crematorium.

Knowing all that, you wouldn’t think it could get much crazier than that, right?

Well, it absolutely does.

POLITICO reports that one of the witnesses called up by Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, during the press event was Daryl Brooks, a sex offender who’s been a New Jersey perennial candidate for years, running for various offices ranging from the Senate to the House, all unsuccessfully.

Brooks, who said he was a GOP poll watcher during the election, said at the event, “It’s such a shame. This is a democracy. They did not allow us to see anything. Was it corrupt or not? But give us an opportunity as poll watchers to view all the documents — all of the ballots.”

According to POLITICO, “Brooks was incarcerated in the 1990s on charges of sexual assault, lewdness and endangering the welfare of a minor for exposing himself to two girls ages 7 and 11, according to news accounts.”

Unsurprisingly, many people immediately recognized him.

In a phone interview, Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora said, “I started watching it and all of a sudden I was like, ‘there’s New Jersey’s perennial candidate claiming to live in Philadelphia and Giuliani claiming him to be a poll watcher and Philadelphia resident.”

In a phone interview earlier today, Brooks said that he was unsure whether or not Trump’s personal attorney was aware of his conviction, but said that he didn’t think it was relevant either way.

“I’m not sure, but all he asked — he was asking about the truth. I told him the truth and the other ones told him the truth,” Brooks stated.

Speaking of his sex offender conviction, Brooks denied the charges and claimed that the Trenton police set him up through the children of neighborhood drug dealers that he had targeted through his self-proclaimed community activism.

“I went to prison for three-and-a-half years. That’s what they said I did. I was 25-years-old,” he said. “I was an activist always doing the right thing. They lied on me. The cops set me up.”

Brooks’ charges remain the same to date and have not been reversed.

But, what do you expect from the guy who tucks his shirt in like that???
