Man Who Looked To Be Security For Trump-Era Secretary Of State Mike Pompeo Appeared To Physically Shove A Reporter Out Of The Way After He Questioned Pompeo About His Past “Soft Praise” For Putin

This is ridiculous.

Republicans have long been backhandedly heaping their praises on the Russian dictatorial President Vladimir Putin. Now that Putin’s heinous actions have finally come to a catastrophic head, people are officially fed up and they want the GOP to answer for the things they’ve said.

As we’re all well aware now, the mounting tensions between Ukraine and Russia hit a tragic fever pitch this week, when Vladimir Putin made a surprise speech, in which he essentially declared war on Ukraine and announced a “special military action” against the country. Just literal mere moments following Putin’s surprise public address (at around 5:00 AM Moscow time) bombs and/or missiles began to drop on the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv. Hours later, Putin released yet another public address, threatening “consequences” against any nation who dared to retaliate against his invasion and attack on Ukraine never seen in history.” This warning essentially boiled down to the threat of nuclear action, though he stopped just short of saying as much.

Over this past week, we’ve watched in horror as several notable Republicans, including the ex-president Donald Trump, continued to make excuses for the Russian dictator and even went so far as to blatantly, publicly praise him. It’s been bad enough that even Fox News has been forced to try to do damage control, and even Donald’s own former chief-of-staff spoke out to express his confusion, disgust, and dismay with his party and their rhetoric surrounding the Russian dictator and the Ukrainian attack.

The American people are frankly done standing idly by and allowing these GOPers to continue with this behavior and rhetoric without answering for it.

In a new clip making its way around social media, NBC News reporter Vaughn Hillyard can be seen confronting former Trump-era Secretary of State Mike Pompeo over his past apparent praises of the Russian dictator — only to be shoved out of the way by a man who appeared to be security detail for Pompeo.

Hillyard confronted Pompeo at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Orland, questioning the former Trump official to his face about his past controversial rhetoric and “soft praise” of Vladimir Putin as Russia invades Ukraine.

“Russian state media has played your own words in which you called Putin shrewd, capable — you said you have enormous respect. Do you regret your words?” Hillyard asked Pompeo to his face.

“I’ve been fighting communism since I was a teenager. I’m going to keep fighting communism,” Pompeo responded. “I’ve worked my entire life to make sure the US was free of communist dictatorships. I understand my enemy. I always call my enemy for what he is.”

Hillyard tried to follow up with the former Secretary of State, only to be physically pushed away by what appeared to be a member of Pompeo’s security team, eliciting a “Hey!” from the NBC reporter.

Enough is enough. The GOP owes this country some answers.
