Man Who Refused To Shake Mitch McConnell’s Hand At Elijah Cumming’s Memorial Explains His Reason For The Snub, And It’s Personal

Mitch McConnell is your human scum.

As I’m sure you’re well aware, Senator Mitch McConnell nearly broke the internet last week when a video of him at the late Rep. Elijah Cummings’ memorial service went viral — in which one attendee of the service completely snubbed the Senate Majority Leader’s handshake.

It’s really no wonder the clip quickly went viral, as Mitch McConnell is a flaming piece of shit and frankly, the look on his face was fucking priceless.

But now the man who issued the near-fatal blow to McConnell’s ego is speaking out to inform the world on exactly why he refused to give Mitch the pleasure of a handshake, even though he shook the hands of all those around the Senator. And while the mere fact that Mitch McConnell is a butthurt partisan dickbag is more than excuse enough, it turns out that the man’s beef with the Senator is actually far more personal.

According to a report by the Washington Post’s Allyson Chiu 64-year-old Bobby Rankin reason for snubbing the disgraceful Senator is “much more personal” than your typical Washinton DC political difference.

Rankin has a heart-wrenching back story that explains why he could not, in good conscience, shake hands with the likes of Mitch McConnell, no matter the circumstances.

Rankin’s brother Jerry passed away from cancer in October of 2018 after he was exposed to contaminated drinking water during his time serving in the United States Marine Corps. Chiu reports that Jerry Rankin never received the veteran’s benefits that were due to him when he was still alive — and he blamed that, in part, on Mitch McConnell.

“Elijah Cummings reached across party lines trying to help my brother get his military benefits, and Mitch McConnell was one of the persons he reached out to,” Bobby Rankin explained to the Washington Post.

Chiu explains in her report that Jerry Rankin was hit with a multiple myeloma diagnosis after leaving the service more than a decade ago — the very same type of cancer that has been linked to the contaminated water at Camp Lejeune where Jerry was stationed and dates all the way back to the 1950s.

The day of Rep. Cummings’ memorial service also marked the one year anniversary of Bobby Rankin’s brother’s death.

“I could not put my hands in the man’s hand who refused to help somebody who served his country… I couldn’t do it, because I was thinking about my brother,” Bobby explained to the Post.

This just goes to show that Mitch McConnell was lower than dirt far before Donald Trump and will continue to be lower than dirt long after his dictator in chief is gone.

You wanna talk about “human scum?” Here is it. Mitch McConnell.
