The deadly coronavirus outbreak in Italy surpassed 3,000 infections and 100 deaths, and it’s hit the U.S., too, while it’s gone worldwide. California authorities said on Wednesday that an elderly person who died from COVID-19 had recently been on a cruise, marking the 11th death in the U.S.
Unfortunately, we’re left with an inept administration that has handled this poorly after it fired the government’s entire pandemic response chain of command in 2018. Trump killed the pandemic response system because it was established during the Obama administration.
If you’re Trump loyalist Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), it’s all a big fucking joke. Gaetz tweeted a photo of himself wearing a gas mask on the House floor on Wednesday ahead of the vote on emergency funding to fight the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Lawmakers in the House and Senate did reach a bipartisan deal on Wednesday to provide $8.3 billion in emergency aid to combat the novel coronavirus. Also, Gaetz is an asshole. We’re sure the family members of the deceased Americans would agree.
