Well, it finally happened, folks. Republican Representative Matt Gaetz has finally lawyered up amid his numerous scandals. As I’m sure you saw, in the course of less than a week, reporting on the Trump-sycophantic Congressman went from talks about a potential career change from the House to the Conservative media, to bombshell reports full of allegations against Gaetz, including but not limited to fake ID scams, sex-trafficking, revenge pornography, and statutory rape.
The scandal surrounding the Florida congressman has been so dire that even the likes of former President Donald Trump has largely stayed out of it, only offering a milquetoast defense of one of his most loyal members of Congress when he broke his silence to deny reports that Gaetz had requested a “blanket pardon” from Trump in the final days of his presidency.
However, it seems that Donald’s reluctance to go to bat for Gaetz hasn’t stopped the Florida GOPer from choosing an attorney with close ties to his favorite president.
NBC New’s Garrett Haake reports that Matt Gaetz has acquired two white-collar criminal defense attorneys in connection to the serious sex crime allegations against him, one of which has very strong ties to Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani, the other represented a high-powered Democrat.

Isabelle Kirshner was the attorney who defended former New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman when he was accused of physically abusing women that he was romantically or sexually involved with.
Gaetz’s other attorney, Marc Mukasey, has represented Donald Trump for several years and, according to a report from Yahoo! News just this week, he still does.
A 2019 Yahoo! News report penned by Hunter Walker and Luppe B. Luppen refers to Marc Mukasey as “the lawyer at the center of the Trump universe,” and adds that he “has long-standing professional and personal ties to Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani.”
“Marc Mukasey grew up spending holidays with Giuliani and was something of an extended family member to the former New York mayor, who is also one of the president’s closest confidants,” the report reads. “Mukasey told Yahoo News he sees himself as an ’emergency room doctor’ for clients who find themselves on trial.”
Mukasey has represented a wide range of clients over the years, according to the report, but the most prominent of which was former Navy SEAL Chief Eddie Gallagher who was infamously charged with ten heinous offenses, including allegedly killing a 17-year old ISIS prisoner who was sedated, then posing for selfies with his corpse.
Thus far, Matt Gaetz has not been formally charged with any crimes and still vehemently denies all allegations against him.
NBC News reports a “spokeswoman working for Gaetz outside his congressional office, Erin Elmore of the Logan Circle Group, said Friday that he has hired attorneys to push back against the swirl of allegations.”
“Matt has always been a fighter,” Elmore told NBC News. “A fighter for his constituents, a fighter for the country, and a fighter for the Constitution. He’s going to fight back against the unfounded allegations against him. His legal team, led by Marc Mukasey and Isabelle Kirshner, will take the fight to those trying to smear his name with falsehoods.”
