Matt Gaetz Shows What A Horrible Human He Is As He Defends Paul Gosar’s Despicable Video

He really is an awful person.

Rep. Paul Gosar is facing censure after he posted a disturbing photoshopped anime video on his Twitter and Instagram accounts showing him appearing to murder Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and violently attacking President Joe Biden.

The majority of Republicans on Wednesday seemed to have a hard time saying that it was wrong. Instead, they deflected to problems at the Southern border and inflation — neither of which have to do with a member of Congress seemingly fantasizing about killing another member of the House. One of Gosar’s defenders was Rep. Matt Gaetz, who gave a strange reason for wanting to sweep the entire incident under the rug.

“Anime is fiction, to the point of the absurd. It’s not really my thing, and it does glorify vi0lence, but often to symbolize conflict, not realistic harm to another person,” Gaetz insisted. “In the last session week we had, we reviewed Steve Bannon’s podcast. Today, we’re critiquing Paul Gosar’s anime. Next week, we might be indicting Wile E. Coyote for an explosive ordinance against the Roadrunner.”

Watch:

That’s cute, but we’re reviewing former Trump adviser Steve Bannon’s podcast the day before the insurrection in which he appeared to know what was about to take place the following day. “All hell is going to take place,” he said, among other things.  As for anime being fiction, that’s true, but does Gosar know that? He’s a mentally disturbed man.

Democratic lawmakers said the Arizona Republican’s actions amounted to threatening another member of Congress’s life, calling the video “so beyond the pale.” According to the Associated Press, Gosar issued a statement last week saying that the video wasn’t meant to depict harm or violence, calling it instead “a symbolic portrayal of a fight over immigration policy.” Yeah, sure, go with that.

When former President Donald Trump ran on a platform against political correctness, it opened the floodgates. After the former reality show star was elected, his followers thought they were permitted to be the worst humans possible. And even though he’s no longer in office, they’ve continued down that road. I do blame Trump for the violent rhetoric. After all, he incited an attempted insurrection, and the same Republicans we saw defending Gosar today, defended the former president’s actions on Jan. 6. As for the border and inflation, do Republicans not know about multitasking?
