Matt Gaetz’s Former Staffer Seemingly Could Not Provide Any Evidence To Clear The Congressman Against Allegation During Press Conference

This didn't go down well.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-MAGA) has found himself facing a flurry of accusations, including an investigation by the Department of Justice over an alleged inappropriate relationship with a minor and a possible violation of sex trafficking laws. The scandal keeps branching off into other scandals, and the Florida Republican doesn’t have many friends on his side of the aisle to defend him. There are videos, texts, and supposedly some photos out there, and please, dear God, don’t let there be any nude photographs of Matt Gaetz circulate. We can only take so much.

A former aide to Gaetz tried his darnedest on Monday to defend the congressman against the sex trafficking allegations, but he came up short. Really short.

Reporters took him to task and, Nelson ended up admitting that he had no evidence that could discredit the investigation into sex trafficking.

“I’m not here to provide any degree of evidence in support of Congressman Gaetz,” Nelson said, “only to discredit these baseless allegations.”

What of the investigation do you know that would lead you to discredit the investigation?” a reporter asked.

“I don’t have any specific knowledge on the investigation,” Nelson said, adding, “or any of the facts that are involved with the investigation.”

Watch:

We’re not sure how this sudden press conference helps Gaetz since his former aide doesn’t have “any specific knowledge on the investigation.” Reports are surfacing that Gaetz was known for showing off nude pictures of women he’d been with and that he and other Republicans in the Florida Legislature played a game in which they earned points for sleeping with women, earning extra points if they have sex with a virgin. The Department of Justice is investigating whether Gaetz had sex with a teenage girl, bringing her across state lines, and paying for sex.

The allegations are so serious that Gaetz doesn’t have any support from his Republican colleagues with the exception of Reps Jim Jordan and Marjorie Taylor Greene. As a matter of fact, Donald Trump won’t even defend his sidekick. If this is the best Gaetz can do for a defense, he’s in a lot of trouble.
