Melania Trump’s Former Aide Claims Ex-First Lady Called Jared And Ivanka “The Interns” Because They Were “Obnoxious Know It Alls”

Sounds about right.

According to an excerpt of the forthcoming book, “I’ll Take Your Questions Now,” by Melania Trump’s former chief of staff and the former president’s White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham, the former first lady had a nickname for Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump. And that’s easy to believe since her husband assigns nicknames to his critics.

Grisham says that one of her “biggest personal regrets” was her role in allowing Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump to drive some of the administration’s early response to the coronavirus pandemic.

“One of my other biggest personal regrets is that I didn’t have the courage to speak out against Jared, Ivanka and Hope about the potential dangers of addressing the nation without any Covid response strategy in place, and what a disservice it could be to the country and the president,” Grisham writes for an excerpt published on Politico.

“When I worked for the first lady in the East Wing, we had all come to call Jared and Ivanka “the interns” because they represented in our minds obnoxious, entitled know-it-alls,” Grisham says. “Mrs. Trump found that nickname amusing and occasionally used it herself. Now, during one of the most important crises to hit the country in a century, the interns were behaving true to form.”

Grisham also writes that Ivanka and Jared hijacked the White House’s early response to Covid-19.

During a crowded meeting that included Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, Dr. Anthony Fauci, Dr. Deborah Birx, Steve Mnuchin, Hope Hicks, and others, the former aide recalls the president’s daughter repeatedly insisting that “There should be an address from the Oval.”

There was no social distancing during the meeting, yet they were there to discuss the disease.

As for Ivanka’s husband, Grisham writes that she was “outraged” over “Jared’s behavior.” She said, “He was not an expert on any of those things — shutting down borders, the economic consequences, the health consequences — yet he alone seemed to be deciding the nation’s first actions to address one of the most devastating crises in our history.”

That sounds about right. After all, Trump supporters gave the former president the keys to the White House even though he had zero political experience.
