Michael Avenatti Comes Out Swinging Against Kavanaugh Confirmation, Obliterates Republicans

The GOP's nightmares are far from over.

Now that the Republican Party has decided that it’s absolutely fine to ignore women and confirm Brett Kavanaugh despite numerous sexual assault accusations into the Supreme Court, defenders of women are more furious than ever.

One of these people is Stormy Daniels attorney Michael Avenatti, who has not only been advocating for Daniels against Donald Trump, but represented and defended one of Kavanaugh’s own victims. Yesterday, Avenatti exploded after news of Kavanaugh’s official confirmation, infuriated that he and his client Julie Swetnick were being accused of enabling Kavanaugh’s voting in. Avenatti took to Twitter and said:

In other words, @SenatorCollins did not believe ANY of the accusers as it relates to Brett Kavanaugh’s conduct. This is outrageous – they were not all lying. This should also put an end to the nonsense of blaming me and my client for the outcome. #Basta

Avenatti’s response goes out to several Republicans who have called him and his client out by name. In Senator Susan Collins’ speech, she minimized Swetnick’s claims that she had been gang-raped at a party that Kavanaugh and his friend Mark Judge were at. She said:

Some of the allegations levied against Judge Kavanaugh illustrate why the presumption of innocence is so important. I am thinking in particular not of the allegations raised by Professor Ford, but of the allegation that, when he was a teenager, Judge Kavanaugh drugged multiple girls and used their weakened state to facilitate gang rape. This outlandish allegation was put forth without any credible supporting evidence and simply parroted public statements of others.”

Collins is one of the many critics who have criticized Swetnick’s account, some even attacking Avenatti. Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) said:

I think this process changed dramatically when Mr. Avenatti entered the picture. I think a lot of people, including many of my Democratic colleagues, felt like we had gotten into the foothills of preposterous.”

In an interview, Avenatti addressed the fact that he was being blamed for helping Kavanaugh get into the Supreme Court, making it perfectly clear that he’s just as unhappy that we have a potential rapist at the highest court now.

It’s a bunch of nonsense that somehow I had anything to do with the end result here being negative.”

If the GOP thought that Avenatti was going to go away on Kavanaugh after this, they were wrong. Avenatti is continuing to defend the victims and is even pointing out how flawed the FBI investigation into Kavanaugh was, as Swetnick and her corroborating witnesses were never interviewed. Swetnick said that Trump and the Republicans:

Purposefully prevented any inquiry into my claims and those of other sexual assault victims in the interest of politics. They then had the audacity to claim our claims were not credible even though they never allowed any investigation to determine their credibility. How can they say the claims were not credible when they made no effort to discover whether they were or were not?”

Avenatti and Kavanaugh’s victims will not go quietly.
