Michael Flynn’s Ridiculous Lawsuit Against Jan. 6th Committee Brutally Slapped Down Before It Even Got Started, Just One Day After He Filed It

Former National Security Adviser to Donald Trump, Gen. Michael Flynn, has joined the throngs of past and present Trump allies who are desperate to keep the January 6th House Select Committee from poking around in their business when it comes to their possible roles in the infamous insurrection.

But no sooner than Flynn lined up his efforts and defenses, a judge is slapping them down right in his face.

On Tuesday of this week, the retired United States Army lieutenant general and former Trump administration official filed a lawsuit in which he was seeking a temporary restraining order against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and all the members of the House Select Committee, in an effort to prevent them from obtaining his phone records in connection to the Capitol riot, or subpoenaing his testimony in their investigation.

In his lawsuit, Flynn accused the committee of acting without legal authority, claiming that the committee and its members were in violation of the United States Constitution, according to Business Insider who reviewed the complaint.

“Like many Americans in late 2020, and to this day, General Flynn has sincerely held concerns about the integrity of the 2020 elections. It is not a crime to hold such beliefs, regardless of whether they are correct or mistaken,” Flynn’s lawsuit reportedly reads.

At the time we reported on Flynn’s desperate restraining order, we knew good and well that it would likely be laughed out of a courtroom.

We were pretty much spot on.

Tampa, Florida, US District Judge Mary Scriven smacked down Flynn’s attempted restraining order on Wednesday, just one short day after the former National Security Advisor filed the official complaint — citing Flynn’s failure to meet the procedural requirements, per documents reviewed by Insider. Judge Scriven reportedly told Flynn that he could refile at a later time if he meets all the requirements.

In the judge’s order, she notes that the former Trump official filed the lawsuit a full four weeks after the committee’s outlined deadline for Flynn to provide the requested documents. It is unclear thus far whether or not the committee set a new deadline. She also notes in the order that the House Select Committee postponed Flynn’s deposition to a “date to be determined.”

It was those reasons as well as others, according to Judge Scriven, that she said “there is no basis to conclude that Flynn will face immediate and irreparable harm” — the requirements that would be necessary to grant the emergency restraining order that Michael Flynn was seeking.

The January 6th House Select Committee is specifically seeking information pertaining to a meeting attended by Gen. Michael at the White House on December 18th, 2020. According to a report from the New York Times, this particular meeting saw a sharing of numerous conspiracy theories regarding the 2020 presidential election, as well as brainstorming for ideas to overturn the election’s results, such as seizing voting machines.
