It seems former Vice President Mike Pence has finally, publicly confirmed what we’ve all known to be true for well over a year now — he and Donald Trump officially broke up.
The ex-VP sat down for an interview with Fox News host Jesse Watters, where he admitted that he hasn’t spoken to the one-term, twice-impeached ex-president since last summer — shortly following the infamous January 6th Capitol riot, during which the former president’s supporters stormed the government building, held up the certification of the Electoral College votes, and directly threatened Mike Pence personally as they shouted and threatened to “Hang Mike Pence!”
Trump’s supporters were angry with Pence because he refused to follow along with Donald Trump’s unhinged plan to overthrow the 2020 presidential election through Pence’s refusal to certify the votes.
“You know, we talked last summer,” Pence told the Fox host, “and you know I’ve said many times, it was difficult, Jan. 6 was difficult. It was a tragic day in the life of the nation.”

Following the hours-long siege, Pence and the rest of the US lawmakers were eventually able to reenter the Capitol building, where they would go on to officially certify Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential election win, as Pence chose his devotion to the US Constitution over his loyalty to Donald Trump.
“I know I did my duty under the Constitution of the United States,” Pence stated, “but the president and I sat down in the days that followed that, we spoke about it, talked through it, we parted amicably.”
However, just because Pence did the bare minimum with regard to his responsibility to the Constitution, does not mean that he’s suddenly had a change of heart and been transformed from a pumpkin to a decent human being. In the weeks and months (and now year) following the violent Capitol attack, Pence has regularly downplayed what happened on January 6th, at the hands of his boss’ own supporters, calling the siege “one tragic day in January,” despite the fact that his life was genuinely threatened that day, and his former boss continues to spout the same dangerous lies that started it all.
