Mike Pompeo Haunted By Resurfaced Photo Of Him With Taliban Members As He Attacks President Biden On Afghanistan

Do you really want to point fingers right now, sir?

Look, things are an absolute disaster in Afghanistan right now. Almost instantly after United States troops were withdrawn from the Middle Eastern nation, the Taliban was able to seize the Presidential Palace and essentially overthrow the Afghanistan government. Now we’re not fools — we will be the first to admit that maybe President Biden should have done things a little differently. However, to attack the man over what is currently taking place within Afghanistan would be gross negligence of the highest proportions, considering all the came before him.

Let us remember that pulling US troops from the Middle East was a campaign promise made by Donald J. Trump; one that President Biden merely followed through with. Not to mention, this whole ordeal hails straight back to former President George W. Bush, who got us in this mess in the first place.

Yet none of those decisions that far preceded President Biden seem to matter to the Right. In fact, not only does history not matter to so many of these people, it seems their very own actions don’t either.

It seems Trump’s former Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, is taking a page straight from the ex-president’s playbook as he publicly attacks and lambasts President Biden on the Afghanistan chaos while seemingly either forgetting or just simply ignoring the fact that there are quite literally photos of him meeting with Taliban leaders.

Pompeo spoke with Fox host Chris Wallace recently, and pretty much immediately took to criticizing the Biden administration, saying that had “just failed in its execution of its own plan,” before going on to call on the US to “crush” the Taliban in and around Kabul with American airpower.

“It looks like they are now trying to get folks out. This reminds me of when we have seen previous administrations allow embassies to be overrun, it’s starting to feel that way. It also looks like there’s a bit of panic having to reinsert soldiers to get them out,” Pompeo stated.

“We should do it with American air power, we should put pressure on them, we should inflict cost and pain on them. We shouldn’t be begging them to spare the lives of Americans, we should be imposing costs on the Taliban until they allow us to execute our plan in Afghanistan,” the former Secretary of State added.

But Wallace wasn’t letting Pompeo off the hook that easily.

The Fox host took the opportunity to remind Pompeo that he himself had encouraged the legitimization of the Taliban’s leadership under the Trump administration. A report from The Independent notes that this “eventually inked a ceasefire deal that largely resulted in the Taliban shifting their military attacks to target local security forces and the Afghan National Army.”

Wallace questioned whether Pompeo regrets his decisions regarding the Taliban, which only resulted in a non-answer from the former Trump official.

However, no amount of non-answers in the world will make this go away:

Now is when you shut your mouth, Mike.
