Mitch McConnell And Lindsey Graham Have Responded To Trump’s Calls To Delay The Election And POTUS Isn’t Going To Like It One Bit

Wish in one hand, Donald...

This morning, the one thing we’ve all been absolutely terrified of since Donald Trump took office on that fateful day nearly four years ago finally happened.

As the 2020 presidential election creeps closer and closer Donald J. Trump is attempting to set the stage to take away the peoples’ vote.

Over the past several months, as he continues to botch his response to the pandemic at every turn and the entire nation still remains in a state of civil unrest over systemic racism and police brutality in this country, Trump has found himself on a rather steep decline in the polls.

To make a long story short, he’s losing. Badly. And the 95 days he has left until Americans do their democratic duty simply is not enough time to save himself from this mess of his own making.

So, he’s desperately trying to take that democratic duty away from us.

In a tweet this morning, Donald suggested that Election Day be “delayed” this year, due to his mistrust in mail-in voting — something a majority of the country plans to participate in thanks to the lack of safety regarding their health in this country due to Trump’s non-response to the virus.

Frankly, it’s something we’ve known was coming for quite some time now.

However, the power to postpone an election in this country lies with Congress and Congress alone. And while we know that the folks on our side of the fence aren’t about to let some nonsense like that fly, I’m sure it will come as an anger-inducing surprise to Donald Trump when he realizes that his own cronies are not buying it either.

Several GOPers have already voiced their opinion regarding Trump’s unhinged suggestion this morning, and none of them seem to be on his side. But it was two of the most prominent Trump-friendly voices that will undoubtedly, really catch him off guard.

Both South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham as well as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell have publicly opposed Trump’s suggestion to put off the election in the United States.

CNN Congressional Correspondent Manu Raju penned a tweet today, saying that he asked Sen. Graham about Trump’s call to delay the election, and Lindsey had this to say about it: “I don’t think that’s a particularly good idea.”

To make matters worse for the President, Senator Mitch McConnell was no more on his side than Graham was.

McConnell said in an interview, “Never in the history of the country… Have we ever not had a federally scheduled election on time. And we’ll find a way to do that again on November 3rd.”

When asked to clarify by the interviewer that this year’s election day is, in fact, set in stone McConnel replied, “That’s right. We’ll cope with whatever the situation is and have the election on November 3rd as already scheduled.”

In case you didn’t catch that, Donnie: That translates to “Ain’t happenin’.”
