Mitch McConnell Seemingly Admits GOP Doesn’t Have A Lock On Senate — November Election Will Be A “Dogfight”

Not so confident after all?

According to a report from The Hill, Senate Majority Leader and Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell has now admitted that the Republicans don’t have this upcoming Senate election in the bag as they had hoped — calling the impending senate race a “dogfight” and revealing that they don’t have a “lock” on the election.

Speaking to Fox News Radio, the Senate Majority Leader explained that GOP Senators are “on the defense” in an effort to hang on to the Republican majority they’re currently enjoying in their branch of Congress.

As of now, Republicans are protecting a significant 23 Senate seats as opposed to the 12 that are currently held by Democrats, with the majority of them being in deep red states.

“Let me just say that the Senate majority has not been a certainty at any point this cycle. We always knew from the beginning, and I’ve said consistently, that it’s going to be a dogfight,” Mitch stated during the radio show appearance.

The Kentucky senator went on to explain that Republicans have “a lot of exposure” in areas where their Democratic counterparts are fighting to unseat them, due to the makeup of the Senate map.

“I think it’s a tough fight. We don’t have a lock on it, nor do they. It’s going to be a fight to the finish. Sort of like a knife fight in an alley,” McConnell admitted to Fox News.

Should Joe Biden secure the presidency this November, Democrats will only need to win three seats to gain control of the Senate, or four, should Trump “win” another term.

It seems the heat is now on and rising under the likes of McConnell and his GOP colleagues as Democratic candidates in Arizona, Colorado, Kentucky, Maine, Montana, North Carolina, and South Carolina have outraised their GOP opponents thus far.

McConnell made sure that listeners knew he supposedly isn’t worried about the increase in funding for Democrats, though.

He stated, “I think it is also true that the Democrats are doing a better job of raising funds in recent years than we have. But we took the Senate in 2014, we kept it in 2016, we increased our number in 2018, so the fact that the Democrats are raising more money shouldn’t raise any eyebrows.”

I’ve got news for him, though — not only are he and his GOP crew being outraised, everyone literally hates Republicans at this point.

So… Good luck, Mitch.
