Mitch McConnell Surprises Some After He Appears To Call Out Republicans Who Attended Extremist-Backed America First Political Action Conference

That's not going to atone for what you've done, sir.

Recently, we reported that notable Republican members of Congress attended an extremely disgusting white nationalist event, where one of the main speakers quite literally ignited a round of applause for Russian dictatorial President Vladimir Putin, while the Russian army was, in real-time, violently invading and attacking Ukraine. Now, according to a new report from POLITICO, none other than Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has responded to the Republicans’ appearance at the recent extremist event, and frankly, it’s not quite what we were expecting from the Kentucky Republican.

Either the Kentucky Senator has finally plucked his spine up out of the Trump GOP’s ass, or he’s just finally learned that being blatantly, publicly racist isn’t the flex he thinks it is — but either way, the Republican lawmaker’s response was at least a little less bigoted and racist than what we were prepared for.

Mitch was recently asked for comment on the extremist-backed America First Political Action Conference where GOP lawmakers Marjorie Taylor Greene made an appearance and far-fright fringe organizer Nick Fuentes urged the crowd to give “a round of applause for Russia.” In his statement today, McConnell said, “There’s no place in the Republican Party for white supremacists or anti-Semitism.

GOP Congressman Paul Gosar attended the same event last year, where Fuentes heavily urged the protection of the “white demographic core.”

Following the event, GA’s Greene was quick to defend herself after she found herself on the receiving end of serious backlash for her appearance, ultimately lashing out at the “Pharisees in the Republican Party” and arguing that she “won’t abandon these young men and women” who attend these events. Despite her backhanded response to the backlash, she still found herself heavily condemned by the likes of former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Rep. Liz Cheney.

Even the likes of Rep. Lauren Boebert has tried to distance herself from Greene following her appearance, stating, “I do not apologize for other members and what they say or what they do. I do not support white supremacists, like Nick Fuentes, period.”

Retiring House Rep. and January 6th House Select Committee member Adam Kinzinger, who was recently censured by the RNC along with his fellow Republican on the panel, Lize Cheney, spoke out on the appearances during an interview, stating, “What I think we should do is kick them out of the party. What do I think we’re going to do? Nothing. Liz and I can get censured, they’re going to get help up as the future leaders of the party.”

He went on to note that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy “needs to do a press conference today denouncing Greene, Gosar, Fuentes, announcing Greene and Gosar are out of the conference, there’s no room for this,” adding, “He’s not going to do that.”

McConnell has spoken out against the RNC’s censuring of Cheney and Kinzinger, saying that the RNC unfairly singled the two out.
