As of July 31st, 2019, 218 days into the year, 250 mass shootings —a shooting in which four or more people have been shot — have taken place in the United States of America. That averages out to 1.2 shootings per day. There have literally been more shootings this year than there have been days.
As of July 31st, 246 people had lost their lives to a mass shooting, among 979 who were shot. After just this past weekend, that toll rose an additional 31 people dead after shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio. Human beings are losing their lives at an alarming rate in this country, and it’s not from cancer, or heart disease, or old age.
Evidently, the situation in the US has become so dire, that other countries are now issuing travel warnings to their citizens. Not because America is experiencing an Ebola epidemic or an influx of some crazy parasite in our waters. Other countries are warning their people to stay the hell away from our country because they’re likely to be killed in a mass shooting.
Both Venezuela and Uruguay have now issued travel warnings to any of their residents considering a trip to the US about violence and hate crimes in this country.

Uruguay’s Office of Foreign Ministry issued a warning to their citizens saying they should “take precaution amid the growing indiscriminatory violence, specifically hate crimes including racism and discrimination” should they be traveling to the United States.
They warned their citizens to be extra careful in areas of high population or at special events as they run the risk factors of “indiscriminate possession of firearms by the population” as well as the “impossibility of authorities to prevent these situations.”
Uruguay especially advised caution in areas such as Detroit, Baltimore, and Albuquerque, as they were listed as some of the most dangerous areas.
Venezuela’s Foreign Ministry office issued a warning to their residents as well, urging them to postpone any travel plans to the US or, at the very least, exercise extreme caution. The statement urged citizens to consider the “recent proliferation of violent acts and hate crimes” before making the trip.
“These increasing acts of violence have found an echo and support in the conversations and actions impregnated by racial discrimination and hatred against migrant populations, pronounced and executed by the supremacist elite who holds political power in Washington,” their statement read.
This is what our country has come to — other nations are forced to issue dire warnings to their citizens because they’re likely to be shot.
