Rapper Travis Scott, who recently gained notoriety over a serious, fatal tragedy at one of his recent concerts, has sat down for his first official interview since the Astroworld catastrophe, but people were far from happy with what the musician had to say, and his continued refusal to accept liability for the disaster that claimed 9 lives, according to a new report from InTouch Weekly.

Speaking with Charlamagne Tha God today in his first public interview since the disaster, the “Sicko Mode” rapper said, “It gets so hard because, you know, I always feel connected with my fans. It hurts the community, it hurts the city.”

The people of the internet were quick to respond to Scott’s public appearance and statement, and they were far from impressed with what the rapper had to say about his concert gone tragically wrong.

“This was difficult to watch,” one comment on the YouTube video of Scott’s interview reads. “He really said protecting his brand and sponsorships isn’t a priority but refuses to take any responsibility or denounce any of the other parties involved.”

“I feel like he’s not taking any of the responsibility for what happened,” another commenter wrote.

In the interview, the rapper continued to assert that he had no idea of the casualties that occurred during his concert “until the press conference” after his performance was over. “I didn’t know the exact details,” the musician claimed.

Charlamagne Tha God went on to ask Scott if he felt like people were “forcing” him to take responsibility for the fatal tragedy. Scott was quick to assert that people certainly expected as much from him, but he seemed far from keen on actually taking said responsibility.

“Well yeah, you know, I’m the face of the festival, I’m the artist. So yeah, the media is… they wanna put it on me.”

Scott did claim in the interview that, all in all, he wants to make sure that another tragedy like what we saw with AstroWorld doesn’t happen again, stating, “I definitely wanna step in to figure out how can we fix in this the future. What can we do to change these things?”

Travis Scott has been at the center of controversy for a few weeks now after concert-goers stormed the stage at his AstroWorld concert, during the headline set. Many believe that Scott did not take the necessary steps to ensure his fans were protected and safe, or to stop the stampede. He found himself on the receiving end of further backlash when he seemingly tried to skirt liability for the tragedy.
