New Data Left Us Nauseous After Report Claims Right-Wing Twitter Got A Huge Boost In Followers While Liberals Suffer And Lose Thousands After Elon Musk Finalized Deal To Buy The Social Media Company

Dear God. We knew this was coming.

It’s impossible to miss at this point — Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s recent apparent acquisition of popular social media platform Twitter is all the rage right now. And to say the very least, the opinions are brutally split when it comes to the new deal and the upcoming changes.

Many of those on the Right side of the fence are positively thrilled over the development and Musk’s “Free Speech” claims — if for no other reason than they’re pumped at the prospect of their Dear Leader Donald Trump finally being allowed back into the platform after he was booted indefinitely over misinformation and the Capitol attack.

Meanwhile, those of us on the Left are rightfully concerned about the lies, misinformation, and hatred that’s soon to inevitably spread like wildfire under the guise of the Tesla CEO’s version of “Free Speech.”

But all opinions on the matter aside, new data from The Verge has left us with a sick stomach and a bad taste in our mouth as it appears to show that those of us on the Left aren’t too far off the mark — the mere news of Musk’s Twitter takeover has served as a massive pump for Conservative accounts on the platform, and their follower counts, while Left-leaning accounts steadily suffer and lose their numbers.

The Verge reports:

Data compiled by The Verge from social media statistics site Social Blade shows that in the two days since the deal was completed, influential conservative accounts have increased their follower counts at roughly ten times the average daily rate for the month leading up to the acquisition.

Meanwhile, popular liberal accounts have suffered, collectively losing hundreds of thousands of followers on April 25th and 26th after a month of gains.”

The publication goes on to note, “The shifts are unlikely to be the result of changes within Twitter’s management of the platform, as the deal will not close for months and Musk has not had time to directly affect operations. Instead, the shifts appear to be an organic reaction to the news, with users either joining or leaving the platform in anticipation of Musk’s ownership.”

It certainly seems as though the Conservative crowd is gearing up for a Twitter free-for-all.
