The United States is coming up on a year of this coronavirus crisis, and to be perfectly straightforward, we’re not in a damn bit better shape than we were when this whole disaster started. In fact, in a lot of ways, things are just getting worse. The death toll is mounting with each passing second, infection rates are soaring out of control, people are losing their jobs, their homes, everything left and right — and yet the bulk of the GOP still downright refuses to take any of this with so much as an ounce of seriousness.
Recently, the New York Young Republican Club’s annual gala was held at Maritime Parc in Jersey City’s Liberty State Park. At least 150 largely maskless people were in attendance at the event — including Mr. Gawdy-Gas-Mask himself, Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz.

Gaetz, in particular, has had a long, nasty habit of making light of the virus that’s claimed literally hundreds of thousands of American lives and counting and this event just served as further proof that he’s never truly going to give a damn.

And the state of New Jersey has had it.
A report from the Daily Beast claims that Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop criticized the event as “an egregious violation” of state guidelines and ordered that the restaurant close until they could deliver a written operation plan to the Health Department, describing how they will comply with mask-mandates and capacity limits.
However, Governor Phil Murphy took things a step further still.
“It is beyond the pale that anyone would willingly endanger people in another state,” Murphy said, calling for a law enforcement investigation into the situation.
During a press conference, Murphy referred to the GOP Rep. as “Matt Putz” and, while it’s unclear how enforceable it is, actually banned Gatez from New Jersey altogether.
