New Pro-Trump Social Media App Gets A Really Bad Start, Bogged Down By P*rn, Memes, And Hacks In First Days

Oh my word...

Recently, an old member of Trump’s team kicked off a beta version of anew social media app that’s supposed to be a Conservative’s wet dream when it comes to “censorship” and frankly, it’s turning out about as well as we expected — which, spoiler alert, is not actually well at all.

A while back we reported that Donald Trump’s spokesperson Jason Miller was leaving the Trump team to take a position as CEO of a new startup tech company. It was through that company that Miller launched the new social media app, Gettr. And, much like Trump’s blog, it’s been a pretty big disaster.

According to multiple new reports, the social media platform, advertised as “a non-bias social network for people all over the world” has been marred with trouble since the moment it lauched.

CTVNews reports that the platform was briefly hacked on its first day, as Miller claimed nearly half a million people signed up.

Miller released a statement to Reuters regarding the hack against the new Twitter-style platform, saying, “The problem was detected and sealed in a matter of minutes, and all the intruder was able to accomplish was to change a few user names.”

Miller has stated that the security situation has since been “rectified.”

However, it seems as though that’s not the worst of the platform’s problems.

Newsweek also reports some pretty serious (hilarious) issues going down with Miller’s big platform still in it’s early launch days, including not just the temporary hack job that affected the site’s support page as well as accounts belonging to the likes of former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, former senior White House advisor Steve Bannon, congresswoman Marjorie Taylor-Greene and the pro-Trump media platform Newsmax, but also flooded the platform with pornographic images and gifs on Saturday following the site’s first welcome message to users.

Kotaku reported that the platform was bogged down with “furry porn,” much of which featured the cartoon character Sonic the Hedgehog, as well as Leftist memes and images of old men in their underwear.

The Gettr platform appears to pride itself on anti-censorship values and promotes “freedom of speech” as one of their core values on their Terms of Service, but it seems that value quickly bit them in the rear as they didn’t appear to filter images containing nudity like most reputable social media platforms do.

However, even their “freedom of speech” appears to only go so far as the company notes they reserve the right to “ddress content that comes to our attention that we believe is…pornographic” as well as any material that might be “offensive, obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy…violent, harassing, threatening, abusive, illegal, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate.”

All in all, it looks as though Miller is doing his best to create a Twitter knockoff, with Gettr set up to include trending topics, verifed users, and and the ability to like and share posts much in the same way Jack Dorsey’s platform that Donald Trump is banned from does.

Even Steve Bannon recently described Miller’s social media app as “the Twitter killer” in a post he made on the new site.

The botched social media app has unsurprisingly attracted a drove of Conservatives looking for someone to air their greivances, but thus far reports have indicated that the ex-president himself has not yet signed up.

“The former president is going to make his own decision, it’s certainly there and ready for him should he make the decision—we would welcome that. There is an account reserved for him and waiting for him but that’s a decision for him to make,” one person involved in the creation of the app told POLITICO.

Past reports have indicated that Trump may be hoping that platform owners will bid for his participation on their social media sites, so perhaps he’s just waiting for a good offer. Or, maybe, he’s just not into “furry porn.”
