New Report Claims Ex-Trump Aide Was Offered “Monetary Assistance” To Not Cooperate During Mueller Probe

We all know who loves himself a good bribe.

It appears as though the scope of the Trump administration’s corruption goes even deeper than we thought thanks to a new bombshell report from Law & Crime revealing that ex-Trump aide Rick Gates was offered “monetary assistance” in exchange for refusal to cooperate in former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.

Grimes sentencing related to crimes he committed as Trump’s former deputy campaign chair and revealed through the course of the Mueller investigation has been long put on hold thanks to his willingness to cooperate with the former special counsel as well as prosecutors on various investigations — even going so far as to flip on his longtime associate Paul Manafort as part of a plea deal.

Now, the government has filed a motion in relation to Gates’ sentencing that reveals the former Trump aide has not only been cooperative, but has done so after turning down a bribe to keep his mouth shut.

“Finally, is important to note that the public nature of this case has made Gates and Gates’ family the subject of intense media scrutiny,” the filing reads. “Gates’ cooperation has been steadfast despite the fact that the government has asked for his assistance in high profile matters, against powerful individuals, in the midst of a particularly turbulent environment.”

The motion requests leniency for Gates in his sentencing considering his willingness to cooperate in addition to his refusal to accept the bribe.

“Gates received pressure not to cooperate with the government, including assurances of monetary assistance,” the motion goes on. “He should be commended for standing up to provide information and public testimony against individuals such as Manafort, Craig, and Stone, knowing well that they enjoy support from the upper echelons of American politics and society. Based on his substantial assistance, the government recommends a downward departure and does not oppose Gates’ request for a probationary sentence.”

Gates has been charged with and pleaded guilty to a tax fraud-related conspiracy against the U.S. as well as giving false statements to the Justice Department — prosecutors are requesting that he be given probation.

While the motion does not specify where the attempted bribe came from, I would venture to say that we only really need one guess.
