New Report Claims Melania Told A “Whopper” Of A Lie About Life Expectancy Under Her Husband’s Administration

Is lying through your teeth part of the 'Be Best' campaign?

While Melania Trump did go a step above her husband today and at least acknowledge the fact that today was the first day of Black History Month, she quickly regressed into some habits she most likely picked up from her spouse when she took to bragging about the supposed accomplishments of Donnie’s administration.

“For the first time in 29 years, drug overdose deaths have dropped by 4.1% and life expectancy has increased by 4 years!” the First Lady wrote in a tweet this afternoon. “Proud of this administration for ensuring a safer and healthier future for our nations children,” and followed it up with a “Be Best” hashtag.

Here’s the thing though. Melania Trump is just as full of shit as her husband is.

While she wasn’t incorrect on the decrease in drug overdoses, as the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention did recently report a 4.1 percent drop in overdose fatalities, she completely missed the mark with the rest of her declaration.

The rest of her tweet, in which she claimed that life expectancy “increased by four years” was bullshit.

Back in 2018, life expectancy did see an uptick by about one month in lifespan, but according to the most recent report from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics, it’s still significantly lower than what it was during the Obama administration.

A report released by CNN on Thursday read, “Life expectancy in the United States in 2018 was 78.7 years — an increase of 0.1 year compared with life expectancy of 78.6 years in 2017, the NCHS reported in a study published Thursday. The 2018 estimate remains lower than the peak of 78.9 years in 2014.”

We can see fudging the numbers to look a little better, but the average lifespan hasn’t changed by even one full year in ages, let alone gone up by four years. Being a big, fat liar isn’t exactly very “Be Best” of you, Mel.
