New Report Claims U.S. Government Created “Fake University” To Arrest Foreign Students Who Signed Up

Sickening. But not even surprising.

Ever since his 2016 presidential campaigning days, Donald Trump has been attempting to pull every stunt in the book to essentially cleanse this nation of anyone who isn’t white. He built his first presidential run on the concept of his inhumane, cruel, and unusual wall at our southern border — you know, the one that Mexico was supposed to pay for and still has yet to actually go up despite all of Donald’s false claims — and appears to be peddling a second run on pretty much the same notion.

And now it seems since he’s not managed to actually get a damn thing done the “right” way, his government has actually stooped to blatant lies and trickery to round up those folks that he’s got some sort of fucked-up vendetta against.

According to a new report from the Detroit Free Press, the Department of Homeland Security has been carrying out a sting operation since January to entrap and arrest foreign-born students, mostly those from India, by tricking them into attending a fake school marketed as a university that offers graduate programs in technology and computer studies in Detroit. As a result of this scheme, approximately 250 students have been arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for immigration violations.

Several of the victims of this government scam have been deported back to India while a handful of others are fighting back by contesting their removals — one of which has been allowed to stay in the US after an immigration judge granted them lawful permanent resident status.

The students that have fallen victim to this disgusting scam arrived in the US legally on student visa cards but lost their legal immigration status when the sting was revealed and it was disclosed that the University of Farmington was a fake institution created by federal agents.

Of the approximately 250 students who were arrested, “nearly 80 percent were granted voluntary departure and departed the United States,” per a statement to the Detroit Free Press from the Detroit office of ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

Around half of the remaining 20 percent were slapped with a final order of removal; some of which was ordered by an immigration judge while others “were given an expedited removal by U.S. Customs and Border Protection,” HSI Detroit claimed.

HSI Detroit said the remaining 10 percent “have either filed for some sort of relief or are contesting their removals with Executive Office for Immigration Review.”

According to Detroit Free Press, “seven of the eight recruiters who were criminally charged for trying to recruit students have pleaded guilty and have been sentenced in Detroit, including Prem Rampeesa, 27, last week. The remaining one is to be sentenced in January.”

Attorneys for the students exploited by this scandal have made it clear that these individuals were victims of entrapment by the US government, as the university’s website labeled it as legitimate.

I would love to be able to say that I am appalled by this. But let’s get real. Though sickened, I’m honestly not even surprised.
