Recently, we covered a bombshell report from the New York Times that detailed an alleged scam being run by disgraced ex-president Trump and his campaign that ultimately swindled his own supporters out of thousands and thousands of dollars that they didn’t intend to donate. According to the report at the time, the Trump campaign, through his “Save America” PAC, was using a shady tactic on their fundraising platform, RedWin, that automatically enrolled donors in recurring donations without making it clear to these individuals that more and more money would be pulled from their bank accounts over time. This led to literal millions of dollars in donations that people didn’t intentionally sign up for. And, to make the whole thing that much worse, the majority of those affected were his elderly and most vulnerable supporters.

Frankly, as disgusting as the scam was, it certainly didn’t surprise much of anybody.

However, a report from the New York Times is now making waves in the media and it seems at least a little bit of cold, hard justice is finally being served Trump’s way.

According to the bombshell report, Trump and his team have been forced to give back a staggering $12.8 million in donations connected to the scheme he ran on his fundraising platform while he was vying for reelection and facing a serious cash-flow problem.

The Times’s Shane Goldmacher reports, “The refunds were some of the biggest outlays that Mr. Trump made in 2021 as he has built up his $102 million political war chest — and amounted to roughly 20 percent of the $56 million he and his committees raised online so far this year.”

The bombshell report goes on to explain that reports from Republican donation-processing site WinRed show “more than $135 million was refunded to donors by Mr. Trump, the Republican National Committee and their shared accounts in the 2020 cycle through June 2021 — including roughly $60 million after Election Day.”

The director of the Project on Ethics in Political Communication, Peter Loge, says, “It’s pretty clear that the Trump campaign was engaging in deceptive tactics. If you have to return that much money you are doing something either very wrong or very unethical.”

At this point, it’s strikingly clear that Donald Trump and his people have precisely zero shame. So I say this to his supports — let this serve as cold, hard proof that Donald J. Trump does not give a single damn about you.
