A while back we reported on a bombshell report from the New York Times that revealed the alleged scam hailing for the Trump campaign that apparently schemed his supporters, namely the elderly in his base, out of thousands of dollars in donations that they didn’t realize they were making.
According to the report at the time, donators to the now-ex-president’s campaign were being automatically enrolled in recurring donations and ultimately sent thousands in funds that they never intended to give. Now, some of that has had to be returned by the Trump campaign, after some supporters unknowingly exceeded the legal amount for personal donations. However, a new report from the New York Times now reveals that despite getting caught in his immoral scheme, disgraced former president Donald Trump is still raking in a terrifying amount of money.
The new NYT report reveals that, despite no longer even being in office, Donald Trump has raked in a staggering $56 million in online donations through his political committees.
The report does note that the majority of these donations hail from Trump’s joint committee with the Republican National Committee, though he did raise $21 million through committees he oversees directly. It also notes that a good percentage of the funding was acquired through the allegedly recurring donations scam that duped elderly donors into forking out way more money than they thought they were signing up for.

The money was collected through donations via WinRed, which has served as the Republican party’s preferred donation platform, ad thus far Trump’s boggling fundraising heights have far surpassed any other GOPers on the platform’s board. In fact, coming in second as the next top fundraiser with the platform is Republican Senator Tim Scott, who has only pulled in a measly $7.8 million in online donations compared to Trump’s insane $56 million.
While I never like to be the bearer of bad news, I hope Democrats bear in mind that Donald Trump is not done. We cannot let our guard down.
