New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman responded to the news that former Vice President Mike Pence broke his silence about the Jan. 6 Capitol attack during an appearance at a Republican Party event at the DoubleTree Hotel in Manchester, New Hampshire.

“January 6 was a dark day in the history of the United States Capitol,” Pence said on Thursday. “But thanks to the swift action of the U.S. Capitol Police and federal law enforcement, violence was quelled, the Capitol was secured, and that same day, we reconvened the Congress and did our duty under the Constitution and laws of the United States.”

“You know, President Trump and I have spoken many times since we left office. And I don’t know if we’ll ever see eye to eye on that day,” he continued to say. “But I will always be proud of what we accomplished for the American people over the last four years.”

Haberman tweeted that the twice-impeached one-term president has “continued to trash Pence to various people, and to RNC donors, for not exceeding his legal authority that day, growing louder after Pence’s book deal was announced.”

Trump supporters wanted to hang Mike Pence, but that obviously hasn’t bothered the former vice president. Instead, Trump has continued to spread his Big Lie of widespread voter fraud that doesn’t exist, and that’s what led to the attack on the Capitol. It certainly sounds as if Trump isn’t happy about Pence’s book deal. Maybe that’s because Trump went from being president to being a failed blogger.

Meanwhile, it seems to escape Trump that he’s trashing the very person he chose to be his vice president and later named Pence to lead the coronavirus task force. As for Pence being “proud of what we accomplished for the American people over the last four years,” Trump is the only president in the last 80 years to net job losses during his presidency. And the fact that Trump wanted Pence to exceed his legal authority to overturn the election results speaks volumes of the previous administration. To a narcissist, a boundary is an invitation.
