Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984, Dr. Anthony Fauci, has recently found himself under attack from the Trump White House as he refuses to adhere to the rhetoric and carefree attitude that Trump and his administration are continuing to push with their rapid reopening plans.

However, Dr. Fauci has served as this nation’s beacon of hope through what seems like a neverending and ever-worsening disaster, whether he meant to or not, and it comes as no surprise that doctors, scientists, and people all around the world are lining up in his defense.

This week has been a rather brutal one in terms of attacks against the Infectious Disease specialist, with the White House leaking a memo that attempted to discredit Fauci and then Peter Navarro’s disgusting and unhinged attacked he published against the doctor in USA Today.

However, numerous scientific organizations that represent literally thousands of various doctors, scientists, and health professionals are responding to these disgusting attacks against Fauci with powerful statements in praise and support of the doctor that’s fighting tooth and nail to save us all.

The Infectious Diseases Society of America said, “If we have any hope of ending this crisis, all of America must support public health experts, including Dr. Fauci, and stand with science.”

The Association of American Medical Colleges stated that it was “extremely concerned and alarmed by efforts to discredit” Dr. Fauci.

“America should be applauding Dr. Fauci for his service and following his advice, not undermining his credibility at this critical time,” they continued.

But perhaps the most powerful tribute to Dr. Anthony Fauci came in the form of a Twitter post from a senior investigator at the National Human Genome Research Institute, Adam Phillippy, that’s since been shared across social media far and wide.

Phillippy took to his Twitter account with a 2015 image from Science Magazine of a then 74-year-old Fauci suiting up in a protected suit to give hands-on help in treating an American health care worker who had been infected with Ebola.

“Throwback to 5 years ago when Tony Fauci, at 74 yo, was suiting up to treat an Ebola patient himself because he ‘wanted to show his staff that he wouldn’t ask them to do anything he wouldn’t do himself’. This is what leadership looks like,” Phillippy captioned the image.

During an interview with the magazine at the time of the photo, Fauci said, “I do believe that one gets unique insights into disease when you actually physically interact with patients.”

“It is very exciting and gratifying to participate in saving someone’s life.”

At this point, folks, there is almost nothing more important than safeguarding Dr. Fauci. He’s our only hope.
