Jacob Blake’s father visited him in the hospital on Wednesday and said that his son was handcuffed to the bed, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. And even worse, Mr. Blake has no idea what his son is being charged with. Jacob Blake was shot multiple times in the back by police Sunday in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and that resulted in paralysis from the waist down. The younger Blake literally can’t move from the waist down, so it’s mind-blowing that the police decided to handcuff him to the bed without any explanation. Though this is a typical procedure if someone is charged, Mr. Blake hasn’t been informed of why he appears to be under arrest.
“I hate it that he was laying in that bed with the handcuff onto the bed,” his father, who is also named Jacob Blake, said Thursday. “He can’t go anywhere. Why do you have him cuffed to the bed?”
At a news conference later Thursday, Democratic Gov. Tony Evers was asked if he’s concerned about Blake being handcuffed.
“Hell yes,” Evers said.
“I would have no personal understanding of why that would be necessary,” he continued. “I can’t imagine why that’s happening and I would hope that we would be able to find a … better way to have him get better and recover.”

Again, he can’t walk, and he’s in the hospital after the police shot the man seven times in the back. We need to have a kinder and gentler nation than what we have now.
