Look, there’s very little in this world that won’t piss off a Republican. God, guns, and Donald Trump is pretty much it. However, nothing in this world truly grinds their gears quite like black people doing much of anything to say “We’re done being treated like shit.”
You know I’m right — there is not a single, solitary way that people of color can stand against injustices without some rich, white, male Republican saying “We don’t like it when you do that. Stop it.” No walkouts, no protests, no riots, no petitions, no campaigns, no signs, and you damn sure better not take a knee when the National Anthem is being played. Or, if you ask ole “Patriot” MAGA Senator Rick Scott… When someone is reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
During a recent speaking event, the Trump-loving Florida GOP senator once again “tackled” the topic of NFL players taking a knee during the National Anthem to peacefully protest against police brutality and racism against black people in the United States. But, apparently, Scott is just as ignorant and uneducated as the rest of his party, because he doesn’t seem to actually know the difference between the National Anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance.
During the Faith & Freedom event, Scott declared, “We’re living in a nation where these woke, rich, pampered football players are kneeling for the Pledge of Allegiance.”
But folks, no football players are taking a knee during the Pledge of Allegiance; at least, none that I know of. All of the kneeling I have seen has happened during the National Anthem. But… Same thing, right? Kinda. No. Not really. Not at all.

It took no time at all for Americans to call Scott out on his idiocy and ignorance:
Who is kneeling during the Pledge of Allegiance?

At least they know what the *National Anthem* is.

I’ve covered 415 NFL games. The next one at which the Pledge of Allegiance is recited before kickoff will be the first.

But wasn’t they kneeling for the national anthem?

.@SenRickScott:
1. Do you know the difference between the National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance?
2. Do you realize that the 1st Amendment to the Constitution is still on the books (no thanks to you) and that freedom of expression is what is means to live in a free society?— ᴊɪᴍ ᴄ. (@eltjim) June 19, 2021
First of all, it is the national anthem. Also, the U.S. Constitution guarantees Freedom of Speech. We also live in a nation where citizens are allowed to buy military grade rifles that are often used for mass shootings.

I think I’m more concerned that the Senator from Florida doesn’t know the difference between the Pledge and the singing of the National Anthem.

If you’re going to run your mouth about something, sir, your very first time should be making sure you know what in the Hell you’re talking about.
