People Are Sending Mobile Billboards To Follow Republican Members Home During Thanksgiving Break: “Defend Democracy”

Well, they're going to have an uncomfortable Thanksgiving.

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), who is considered to be a rising star in her party over her staunch defense of “president” Donald Trump, isn’t well-liked outside of her comfort zone. To some people, she’s thought of as “lying trash,” and that’s probably because she has a penchant for dishonesty. Activist groups MoveOn and Need to Impeach are targeting Stefanik as well as some of her Republican colleagues in the form of billboard trucks that plan to follow the House Republicans home for Thanksgiving.

Stefanik’s face is featured alongside the embattled “president” with the words, “Donald Trump Committed bribery…Tell Rep. Stefanik to defend democracy. Impeach Trump.”

The mobile billboard trucks are set to visit eight districts across seven states from Monday through Wednesday, according to The Hill. The Republicans who will be featured on the billboards include either retiring members, members who have split from President Trump in the past, or vulnerable members in more moderate districts. Stefanik won her district with 56 percent of the vote but with an impeachment looming, she might want to rethink her focus. Trump carried her district by 13.7 points.

“The billboards, which comes as Congress concludes its second week of public hearings on impeachment, demand that these members of Congress stop covering for Donald Trump’s abuses of power, in which he pressured a foreign government to interfere in a U.S. election to advance his own political interests, undermined state and local elections, interfered with national security, and got caught trying to cover it all up,” the groups said in a joint announcement.

Other Republicans targeted in the billboard campaign are Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (Pa.), Rep. Scott Perry (Pa.), Rep. Mark Amodei (Nev.), Rep. Francis Rooney (Fla.), Rep. Will Hurd (Texas) and Rep. Chip Roy (Texas), according to the news outlet.

Rep. Will Hurd announced that he will not be seeking reelection and although he’s been critical of Trump, he recently said he opposes impeachment.

“An impeachable offense should be compelling, overwhelmingly clear and unambiguous,” Hurd said during the final day of the week’s impeachment hearings Thursday. “And it’s not something to be rushed or taken lightly. I have not heard evidence proving the president committed bribery or extortion.”

It’s almost as if Hurd wasn’t paying attention to the testimonies of the credible witnesses. Let’s hope he pays attention to the truck following him home for Thanksgiving.

In recent days, Trump has been cozying up to Senate Republicans, including Mitt Romney, to forge a barrier so that the “president” won’t be convicted after the House impeaches him.
