Former President Donald Trump is on a roll today, releasing statements all day long through his spokesperson Liz Harrington so that he can circumvent his ban on Twitter after he incited the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection. Trump has been taking shots at President Joe Biden over the chaos in Afghanistan after the region fell to the Taliban. Now, there’s a lot we could say about that since Donald deserves a huge portion of the blame. Still, he just inadvertently, once again, revealed how stunningly stupid he is when he compared the evacuation in Aghanistan under Biden to the Dunkirk evacuations.
“This could be—Afghanistan—another Dunkirk situation!” the twice-impeached one-term president said in his statement without realizing that that evacuation is sometimes referred to as the Miracle of Dunkirk — and for excellent reasons. During the Nazi era, Prime Minister Winston Churchill and his advisers had expected that it would be possible to rescue only 20,000 to 30,000 men. However, the evacuation was so successful that 338,000 troops were rescued from Dunkirk.
