People Were Left Flabbergasted After Trump Released A Statement Appearing To Take Credit For NATO and Arming Ukraine

You have GOT to be kidding me.

Disgraced, one-term, twice-impeached former President Donald Trump effectively got his ass handed to him after he released yet another of his unhinged, ridiculous “official” statements — this time daring to actually take credit for NATO and claiming to have personally helped to arm the country of Ukraine, that is currently under a severe attack by his favorite dictator, Vladimir Putin.

Now seems like as good a time as any to remind you all that Donald Trump was often a staunch critic of NATO’s policies, and even went so far during his presidential term as to threaten to remove the United States out of the global military alliance. But nevertheless, now that Biden is in charge, Trump writes, “there would be no NATO” without him.

“I hope everyone is able to remember that it was me, as President of the United States, that got delinquent NATO members to start paying their dues, which amounted to hundreds of billions of dollars. There would be no NATO if I didn’t act strongly and swiftly. Also, it was me that got Ukraine the very effective anti-tank busters (javelins) when the previous Administration was sending blankets. Let History so note!” Trump’s mind-boggling statement read.

As you’d expect, the disgraced ex-president’s critics were quick to tear into him with a stark reminder of not only his historic opposition to NATO but the fact that he himself was literally impeached in the House of Representatives for withholding aid from Ukraine in an effort to get dirt on his then political opponent, Joe Biden.

Former Army Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman, who personally testified in Trump’s first impeachment trial over the extortion of Ukraine said, “It was trump that undermine U.S. national security & froze military assistance to Ukraine, leaving that lion of a nation, vulnerable to attack. It was Trump’s attacks on NATO that encouraged Putin to believe NATO was fragile.”

“Trump, who discussed pulling the US from NATO takes credit for NATO’s existence in a new statement. Trump, who threatened to withhold weapons funding from Ukraine to get dirt on Biden, takes credit for Ukrainian weapons in same statement,” wrote POLITICO’s Sam Stein.

Bloomberg’s  Matthew Yglesias called the ex-president ” a “relentlessly dishonest egomaniac” in response to his new statement.

And, of course, tons of average Americans were quick to weigh in on the matter:

Trust me, Donald. Our memories are crystal clear.
